Project overview

Product, inventory, and advertising analysis completed through the Extern Program.

My contribution

Built reusable SQL reporting and translated product and campaign findings into planning recommendations.

Methods

Reporting accuracy, KPI design, and business synthesis.

Purpose

Supports reliable product comparisons and a more informed inventory or marketing review.

Terms explained
SQL join
A way to combine related records from different tables. The same value can be repeated if the records are combined at the wrong level of detail.
KPI
A key performance indicator. This is a measure chosen to track an outcome that matters to the work.
Extern Program
The learning program through which this project was completed.

01 · The business question

How can product and advertising data support better holiday inventory and marketing recommendations?

02 · My contribution

  • Built reusable SQLite tables for 99 products. Checked how records were combined so sales and inventory totals stayed accurate.
  • Found $12.9K of $37.2K in Meta advertising spend with no recorded campaign results. That represented 34.7% of the analyzed spend.
  • Built an interactive report with five key performance measures. Wrote a Holiday Game Plan explaining recommendations for stock and marketing.

03 · The finding

Advertising records covering $12.9K had no recorded campaign results. The next step was to investigate how results were being tracked. Missing results alone do not prove that the ads were ineffective.

04 · The decision

Recommended tests with clear tracking to help guide future advertising budgets. Review advertising results alongside product sales when deciding holiday priorities.

Learning notes

Missing results are a measurement question.

  • An advertising record without a result does not establish that the campaign failed. Measurement coverage has to be investigated first.
  • Product, order, and campaign records can have different levels of detail. A join needs a reconciliation check before its totals guide a plan.

A next questionResolve tracking gaps and agree on KPI definitions before using campaign comparisons to inform allocation.

05 · Work delivered

  • SQLite reporting for 99 products
  • Five KPI HTML/Chart.js dashboard
  • Holiday Game Plan recommendations

Context & measurement notes

Completed through the Extern Program. The budget and inventory changes were recommendations. The $12.9K describes spend with missing results, not money saved. The chart uses rounded project figures. The original company records are not published.
