01 · The business question

How can repeated competitor research become an organized input for reviewing market trends?

02 · My contribution

  • Connected competitor monitoring with updates to Google Sheets using n8n, a tool for linking steps in a workflow, and Gemini, an AI tool.
  • Summarized rug market trends in reports and moodboards, which collect visual references in one place.
  • Presented the research in Google Slides.

03 · The finding

The project brought recurring research into a shared format that could be reviewed through reports, visual references, and a presentation.

04 · The decision

Use the organized research to support a discussion about market trends. The related method example adds a proposed step for checking sources and recording a reviewer’s decision.

Learning notes

Collecting research is only part of the workflow.

  • A useful research record keeps the observation connected to its source. Summaries are easier to review when they share a consistent structure.
  • Reports and moodboards need interpretation before they become a recommendation. An automated collection step does not remove that review.

A next questionEvaluate source coverage and summary accuracy, and record exceptions before expanding a recurring research workflow.
